    Absolutely sick sword

The sword is the real deal. It is excellently priced. Awesome detail on the blade, handle, and sheeth. It came pretty Sharp. Covered in a cosmoline like substance to be sure there's no corrosion in shipping. It has a decent weight that is balanced. Really love the colors. It holds pretty firmly in its sheath so be careful when you pull it out. If I had to be critical there are what appears to be some cork circles in the handle that I believe typically have rivets or some kind of metal grommets in them. This is bare. This could be a feature normal of katanas but I'm not an expert. If you want a cool sword or know someone who wants one this would be a great buy. Very pleased with this. I would recommend.

    Gorgeous looking katana sword

WoW!! This sword is gorgeous. First off, the hilt and scabbard are beautifully crafted. The materials seem like great quality. The scabbard looks hand painted. The color is beautiful and the detailing is very nice. The hilt and guard are equally well made. The blade itself came sharpened and oiled. This is a wonderful show piece for your wall or to keep in the corner of your room to make you feel safe because you have a kickass sword! It feels nice in your hand, well balanced weight and the length is correct for this sword.

Almost razor-sharp, very long, and well-built

The media could not be loaded.

Build quality:I expected this to feel lightweight and a little flimsy despite the knowing it was made of steel/aluminum alloy. Nope, this is a heavy blade with a good sheen on it. The blade came oiled and slick, encased in a strong, durable sheath. The sheath is sturdily head closed until opened by force. The handle is also well-made, with finger grooves.Sharpness:I could compare this to one-step below a kitchen knife, but also similar to a razor blade. I would not fool around trying to test it's sharpness, I could imagine it cuts awfully with enough rocking and force. Certainly not a toy, but not exactly a weapon. It's sharp enough that it passes as legit in decoration. The edge is also pointed and could be scary if mistreated.Grip:The grip is strong, sturdy, and well-made. It fits my medium-large fingers well, and gives good handle of the sword. The blade does not feel loose in the grip and follows motion responsively.Looks:Not too fond of the blue-blood pattern here, especially from the spine rather than the blade. It looks good from a distance, though, maybe on a wall or a display case. The embroidery in the sheath is also really good looking.

    It’s a go!

I used to write reviews for swords on sbg forum. I have to say this sword is better than I thought it would be. Blade construction seems proper for the price point. All the furniture fits very tightly. The wrap is good, fake ray skin but it’s not an issue for me. What’s important for me at this price point is.. is it tempered well and is the geometry correct, and both are. This thing has an apple seed edge and is a very sharp cutting capable katana. Full tang and pegged through the blade and handle construction, so it can be disassembled. All the parts of the sword go together very aesthetically. It looks beautiful. This is the first time that I have had and etched hamon. It’s pretty cool. For the price I definitely recommend this sword. Oh, weight isn’t bad either.

    The Real Thing

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Moonsword-Samurai Katana Sword, Japanese Handmade, Practical, Damascus/1060/1095 Carbon Steel, Tempered/Clay Tempered, Full Tang, Sharp, ScabbardPERFORMANCE – I must admit I was not expecting what was delivered after I selected it, for review. I have a background with these swords, 17 years to be exact. I opened the box and uncovered a beautiful sword, authentically made, it is a pleasure to just admire the craftsmanship. The craft of sword making is a truly amazing process. The good folks at MOONSWORD, have outdone themselves with this stunning Japanese made replica. The sword is not a junk flea market toy that is 90 percent plastic. This not a toy but a real Japanese made replica! I feel I need to stress this is a real authentically made Japanese Kanto style sword, and with a resounding warning, this is a modern made sword, marrying the ancient with the modern. IT IS A REAL SWORD AND YES IT IS RAZOR SHARP! This a beautifully designed and constructed Kanto sword of modern construction but the art of the past has been in preserved in selection of materials and method of construction. The selection of the types of metal tells the tale in volumes, that the MOONSWORD Katana replica can stand proud when compared with swords of the same design but several hundred-years prior construction. The attention given to the construction of an authentic sword but utilizing far purer metals, making a stronger sword yet with the flexibility due to the softer metal cord. In my strong view, if a 16th century, Japanese sword master examined this sword they would be impressed. The blade with the Damascus etching, 1960 and 1095 high carbon steel believe it or not the blade is made of far superior materials and construction than the originals. This product is for a specific market and because I truly cherish all life, I make the following recommendations. This is not a practice sword, it is the “real thing” and you can cut off a limb with little effort, be it your own or others. If you really want to know how to use that replica, then get yourself a qualified instructor. The second danger is the old timers like myself, we use to make a sword sing when we demonstrated our honed skills. I know this is going to hurt, but two decades slipped away and we are no longer that dedicated daily training martial artist. It is very tempting to pull this beautiful replica out of the sheath. Practice or play, with these replicas you will be cut and it will not be a paper cut! Treat it with great respect. I recommend for most to treat as an art piece and buy a stand. I highly recommend great quality and it is beautiful and so is the price! Protect the kiddos by keeping it out of reach and perhaps out of sight.UNBIASED - Amazon Vine reviewers are not paid for reviews, be it positive or negative. I will never recommend a product I would not buy myself. I treat ALL vendors with respect and fairness but my duty is to You, the Amazon customer. I am an Amazon customer too. I have every reason to be sincere in my reviews. If it is junk or treasure my reviews will reflect the products, I give my word of honor. I don’t want any reviews of mine to read like an ad but anyone who has written reviews knows, it is hard to not get sucked into writing in that style, if it is a great product and most are, then we are so enthused about the products and want to scream it to everyone, “Hey, this is a great product”. So in my view, that is why some reviews may sound like ads. I want to say, I encourage you as an interested customer, to ask me questions about the product and I will do my very best to answer each and every one of you. Amazon reviewers can write our views anyway we feel about any product; all we wish to do is help.A reviewer on a social platform often states, “He does not trust Amazon Reviews”. The gentleman is a great reviewer and makes very high quality content, however in this case I disagree strongly. Amazon reviews are dependable and useful. However, use common sense the lower the number of reviews the less accurate the score is. Products that are “Amazon Choice” have always been a winning selection for me. The Amazon review scoring system, lets you know what customers and reviewers like and dislike about the product you are considering purchasing.I cannot state this enough but Amazon Vine reviewers have no reason or encouragement to favor or disfavor any product. Reviews are not edited by Amazon, unless they violate community policy, for example profanity etc., Amazon does not edit reviewers. The comment about Amazon reviews being questionable is somewhat debatable. I assume the comment made by the non-Amazon reviewer is referring to Amazon Vine reviews. I can’t speak for no one but myself, but if the day would ever come that I thought I was obligated to writing ads, I would move on. Amazon knows the value of customer satisfaction and wants to weed out any products that do not live up to advertising claims. Again if you h...
