Damascus Steel Katanas | Hand-Forged Folded Steel Swords
Damascus Steel Katanas
Nine hand-forged katanas with genuine folded-pattern Damascus blades — the rippling grain that comes from repeatedly folding and forge-welding layers of steel, not an etched-on effect.
Damascus steel gets its name from the wavy, rippling pattern that forms when a smith folds and forge-welds multiple layers of steel together, then grinds and polishes the blade to reveal the grain. It's a different visual signature from the wavy hamon line you get on a clay-tempered blade — Damascus pattern runs the full length and width of the blade, while a hamon traces the edge where the temper changes hardness. Some of our Damascus katanas combine both: clay-tempered and folded, so you get the pattern and the differential hardness in one blade.
Below are all nine Damascus steel katanas currently in the shop, from $279 to $609. FAQ on what makes Damascus steel different, how to care for it, and how to choose between our Damascus and clay-tempered lines is below the products.
