The sword is the real deal. It is excellently priced. Awesome detail on the blade, handle, and sheeth. It came pretty Sharp. Covered in a cosmoline like substance to be sure there's no corrosion in shipping. It has a decent weight that is balanced. Really love the colors. It holds pretty firmly in its sheath so be careful when you pull it out. If I had to be critical there are what appears to be some cork circles in the handle that I believe typically have rivets or some kind of metal grommets in them. This is bare. This could be a feature normal of katanas but I'm not an expert. If you want a cool sword or know someone who wants one this would be a great buy. Very pleased with this. I would recommend.

WoW!! This sword is gorgeous. First off, the hilt and scabbard are beautifully crafted. The materials seem like great quality. The scabbard looks hand painted. The color is beautiful and the detailing is very nice. The hilt and guard are equally well made. The blade itself came sharpened and oiled. This is a wonderful show piece for your wall or to keep in the corner of your room to make you feel safe because you have a kickass sword! It feels nice in your hand, well balanced weight and the length is correct for this sword.

Build quality:​I expected this to feel lightweight and a little flimsy despite the knowing it was made of steel/aluminum alloy. Nope, this is a heavy blade with a good sheen on it. The blade came oiled and slick, encased in a strong, durable sheath. The sheath is sturdily head closed until opened by force. The handle is also well-made, with finger grooves.Sharpness:I could compare this to one-step below a kitchen knife, but also similar to a razor blade. I would not fool around trying to test it's sharpness, I could imagine it cuts awfully with enough rocking and force. Certainly not a toy, but not exactly a weapon. It's sharp enough that it passes as legit in decoration. The edge is also pointed and could be scary if mistreated.Grip:The grip is strong, sturdy, and well-made. It fits my medium-large fingers well, and gives good handle of the sword. The blade does not feel loose in the grip and follows motion responsively.Looks:Not too fond of the blue-blood pattern here, especially from the spine rather than the blade. It looks good from a distance, though, maybe on a wall or a display case. The embroidery in the sheath is also really good looking.

I used to write reviews for swords on sbg forum. I have to say this sword is better than I thought it would be. Blade construction seems proper for the price point. All the furniture fits very tightly. The wrap is good, fake ray skin but it’s not an issue for me. What’s important for me at this price point is.. is it tempered well and is the geometry correct, and both are. This thing has an apple seed edge and is a very sharp cutting capable katana. Full tang and pegged through the blade and handle construction, so it can be disassembled. All the parts of the sword go together very aesthetically. It looks beautiful. This is the first time that I have had and etched hamon. It’s pretty cool. For the price I definitely recommend this sword. Oh, weight isn’t bad either.

I recommend this Moonswords Emerald Green Hand Forged T10 Carbon Steel Katana. Authentic detailing and traditional Hardening Process used in making of the Steel Blade. I am displaying this Katana on my Office Desk, I am very happy with the quality of this sword. The Blade shows the Hamon (Ripple created from the quenching of the steel).. the area below the hamon is harder steel which is the edge length of the sword and area above the hamon is the Spine side of the sword which is a more durable steel. The tip of the Katana is designed for piercing and this particular sword shipped to me and was sharp enough to slice through a sheet of writing paper that I held in one hand and sliced the paper with the sword in my right hand. The T10 Carbon Steel will hold this sharp edge long term and can be honed to razor sharpness. The Sheath is beautiful, it is lacquered and marbled in shades of gray, black and white. The outside of the Sheath is wrapped in a ceremonial cording of Emerald Green (to match the handle wrapping) and white. The Katana seats firmly inside the Sheath that follows the curve of the blade and the Katana is easily drawn from the Sheath. The Katana is finished with great detail from the Emerald Green rayon wrapping and synthetic ray skin on the Handle to Gold Color engraved Hand guard ring and Pummel. I am extremely happy with this Moonswords Emerald Green Katana and Sheath it is deserving of being displayed. I am interested in investigating other swords that Moonswords offer for sale.

This katana is absolutely a conversation starter. The blade has a nice weight and balance for the price, and the blue lacquered saya is even flashier in person. It’s sharp enough out of the box for display and light cutting practice, but don’t expect a competition-level edge. The grip feels solid and the detailing is surprisingly nice for a mid-priced sword.You’ll want to keep it cleaned and oiled to avoid tarnish, especially if you’re displaying it somewhere humid. As a gift or a starter piece for a collection, it’s hard to beat for the money.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I was very skeptical when picking this product given the amount of fake katanas being passed off that end up having very poor quality, however I was amazed at the weight and attention to detail this katana has for the humble price. Being a two-handed blade, it is well balanced and the sheath is made from very sturdy wood. It is well wrapped to ship and fairly sharp considering how some blades arrive intentionally dull to prevent immediate injuries. This is definitely not a casual play katana and the details from blade to hilt are impressive.

Okay, let's get real and temper our expectations.I'm a 40 year old man that was offered a sword to review. Was I going to say no? Absolutely not.If you're sitting there without a katana to protect you in the inevitable zombie apocalypse I implore you to reassess your priorities. If you're nodding along to that statement unironically, you and I are on divergent courses.This is a ridiculous item. It's probably exactly the kind of thing you'd expect to find in a novelty knife store or as a Japanese souvenir if they were allowed to still sell them. The painted hamon is fooling absolutely no one. The fittings aren't going to be the paragon of quality.All of that being said, I love it. It's sharper than I expected and even with the flaws I mentioned the product is still a pretty great value. You can't expect to get a champagne sword with beer money. Watermelons better watch their backs... or sides... or fronts? I don't know. They're gonna get sliced.

This Katana was crafted with some very nice, artistic details, creating a unique look and character compared to others I’ve seen. The build is solid, the woven handle wrap is tight, and the blade is heavy and very sharp. I used some of the white protective foam that the product came wrapped in to carefully wipe the blade beginning from the hilt and before I got to the tip I noticed that the foam was completely sliced through, even though it was double folded, and a layer of skin was completely removed from my thumb. I guess I wasn’t being as careful as I thought, but the bottom line is that both the point and the blade are very sharp. The Saya (Scabbard/Sheath) also has very nice artistic details with nicely tied cord, but does have some black wood crumbs that stick to the oiled blade each time I remove it. I’m not quite sure how to deal with it, as nothing can fit in there to wipe it except for the blade, but hopefully the issue will take care of itself after I insert and remove the blade several more times. I just have to be more careful wiping it each time.

I'm not an expert in Japanese Samurai sword by any stretch of imagination, but I find the craftsmanship and quality of this Katana sword is excellent. The is definitely not a toy for kids or wannabe Samurai, and to treat it with the most respect and care. The scabbard has nice detailing, but it feels a bit plasticky. On the other hand, the blade is the shining point. It's made from high-carbon steel, and I find the thickness is uniform throughout the entire length. It feels solid, a little heavy but well-balanced, and has no wiggling or loose feeling at all. Despite its size, it's as sharp as any knife I've seen. The Hamon is not quite as visible as it's depicted in the pictures, but the curves are beautiful, smooth and blend nicely with the blade. The only thing I find annoying is that there's a lot of tiny wood bits sticking to the blade due to the fact that it's all oiled. I have to wipe down the blade every single time I take it out of the scabbard. I'm not sure this is a normal process initially, but it's very annoying to me. Overall, I'm very impressed with this high-quality Japanese Samurai sword that has exceptional value. It makes for a great display in any living space, and I've received so many compliments.

The product came in a nice taped up box. The sword itself is nice and shiny. It wasnt loose and came in pretty sharp. The hamon looks a little faded though. I cant really tell if the hamon is real. I think its real enough. Overall, the blade is a work of art and beautiful. When i practice, its workout since its heavier than my other 1045 katana.
